BioShock 2 is a first-person shooter and spiritual successor to the acclaimed original, developed by 2K Marin and published by 2K Games in 2010. Set in the underwater dystopia of Rapture roughly eight years after the first game, players assume the role of Subject Delta, a powerful Big Daddy, returning to the city to reunite with Eleanor Lamb while confronting the mysterious forces that govern the fallen society. The game refines the plasmid-based combat system with dual-wielding mechanics, allowing players to wield both weapons and plasmids simultaneously, and introduces a fresh narrative exploring themes of family, redemption, and free will through a morality system tied to how players deal with Little Sisters. Though met with mixed critical reception compared to its predecessor, BioShock 2 is recognized for its atmospheric storytelling, imaginative gameplay innovations, and the fan-favorite multiplayer component set during Rapture's civil war.
